for ttc girl, i know it is recommended to not eat anything til around noon to help w/ low blood sugar. my ? is: is it better to do this for the entire 6 wks prior to attempt OR just a few days leading up to O, O, & then 2ww? would it be more of a shock to our system to wait til few days before O? i haven't been eating anything til about 12:30 (won't have attempt til prob April) but would love to go back to having something if it's okay

I think Kris said it was most important the week before O. But I'm not sure.
IF you must eat you can as long as its PURE protein

Egg white omelets are a great breakfast that do not raise blood sugar. You can get egg beaters (I use whites, but I think you can use regular), and add some Mrs. Dash and sprinkle on top with grated parmesan cheese, it's actually pretty good! I like to buy Sargentos (sp?) low sodium cheese and put that inside the omelet, and to snack on during the day. There's not too many tasty options out there for the ttc girl diet. GL!!!

i guess i'll read kris's blog again. i don't have a problem not eating breakfast if that's what we should do. i was hoping to find out if not eating breakfast is better to do long-term or short-term--what woud yield the best result? to me, it would seem that short-term would be better b/c it's more of a shock to the system (so only wk before O). but, perhaps long-term is better b/c it sends the signal of starvation better to the body? ugh, is any of this easy?!?!

i thought i should add that i did not eat breakfast for 6 wks for last attempt (in Dec) so i know i can do it. i don't know if i could do it much longer than that-would have to switch to some pure protein in am. just trying to find the best way to do this for future attempt :)

okay, finally found a post from kristindoggirl from early 2009 where she answers a similar ? to ours. she recommended having low blood sugar all day long for as long as possible prior ttc. so that means no breakfast for the 6 wks (or more!) on girl diet before ttc. no prob it just stinks

I wish I knew the answer to this, too! I'm guessing "short term" could very easily mean 6 weeks, ya know? Long term to me sounds like months and months. So I will still stick with skipping bkfst for about 6 weeks prior to ttc! GL!

Kristin also said you didn't HAVE to skip breakfast. She said the important thing was a long stretch where you aren't eating. We go all night without eating, and so it's usually easy for people to just skip breakfast and make the stretch longer. But you could also cut out eating at night if that works better for you.
I'm planning to just skip breakfast the week before O because I don't think I can function without breakfast most of the time.

I have been skipping breakfast in the morning now for the past 5 weeks and will have my attempt in April. I have been drinking a glass of milk at around 10:30 though. Does this defeat the whole purpose of skipping breakfast? For those skipping breakfast are you having anything to drink?

I'll have to try. How do you continue not having breakfast when doing Bodypump and Bodycombat in the morning?
