That is what my three year old told me today while we were at Old Navy looking at clothes. I told him we were going to look for clothes for baby Ryan and he kept picking the girly/floral things. I kept telling him, "No, Kyle, that's for girls, silly!" He looked at me very seriously and said, "I want to the baby into a girl, Mommy. I already have a brother." Ugh. As if my own GD wasn't hard enough, now I have to deal with my boys having GD too. The other day my almost five year old asked, "Why didn't God give me a sister, Mommy?" It's like a knife to my heart. I try so hard not to tear up but it's rough when I wanted something so badly and those around me are left disappointed too :( GD sucks.

Oh geez, that is heart-breaking. Your boys sound so sweet, but that is torture to hear, I am sure. I am so, so sorry. :(

I am so sorry Anne...that must be so hard!!! It's also so interesting because not one of my boys ever said that to me!!! Not even my eldest son and he is 11 yrs old. People are always asking me if I am going to try again for a girl in front of my boys all the time when we are out and they even ask my kids sometimes!!! My 2 oldest kids always say "Ah...a brother would be nice, but I think a girl for my mom would be nice too". I always find that so thoughtful of them....but I know they really love having their brothers so much and your boys will too!!! They will all be partners in crime 4-sure!!!!! The new additions catch on quick!!! I know how ya feel though....I too am dealing with more of a "Gender Desire" at the moment!! I keep thinking "God, do you even know how much happier my life would be". I love my life...and my boys, but gosh it just doesn't seem like much to ask for to have a daughter, but yet I guess it is!!!!
BIG HUGS TO YOU ANNE!!!!!

I'm so sorry! That has to be so hard--especially with the little ones who just don't understand. Your boys sound so sweet. I bet they will love a brother just as much as they would have a sister!

Oh, Anne, just reading your post title broke my heart. I'm so sorry this is hard for your whole family. We had a little bit of the opposite. J kept telling us he wanted a little brother.

Awwww. Try not to let this get you down too much. My oldest was the same way. He really, really wanted a baby sister.
Man, oh man does he ADORE his baby brother now.
When I joke about having another one and how we need a girl, he says, "Nope. I want another brother."
Yours will have a change of heart too. You'll see. It's really a neat dynamic.

Oh, my son wanted a sister, too! I never said anything to him about it; he just came up with his own preference. I thought he was dealing with it, but yesterday he said to me, "Mommy, two brothers [himself and the baby] is too many. One brother and one sister is just right." You're right, it was like a knife in the heart. GD does suck.

I'm so sorry. I have the opposite going on. Over the years, I've heard about several children telling their mommy's what they are having and being accurate. I asked my 4 year old what he thought I was having and he said boy. When I asked why, his response was, "I want a new brother. I don't like my other brother anymore." I was heartbroken. Not by the fact that he didn't think there was a girl in there, but that he wanted to replace his brother. His little brother adores him and mimics his every move. It made me think about this one coming along and taking that away from my little guy. What children say is heart breaking sometimes. Best wishes!
